Rising high school juniors and seniors interested in sports and media are encouraged to apply to the Carolina Sports Journalism Camp, to be held at UNC-Chapel Hill June 22-25. The four-day workshop will instruct students on sports play-by-play, sports writing, sports photography and more through classroom study and newsroom practice. Students will take a behind-the-scenes tour of UNC’s sports media facilities and cover a press conference. They will also observe an undergraduate sports writing class taught by Sports Camp lead instructor Tim Crothers, whose work has appeared in New York Times Magazine and ESPN Magazine. Application Deadline: April 1 Cost: $500 for in-state students, $1,000 for out-of-state students URBAN JOURNALISM WORKSHOP AT NYU The Urban Journalism Workshop at New York University, sponsored by the Dow Jones News Fund, is designed to develop the next generation of great journalists. A diverse group of twenty high school juniors and seniors from the New York City metropolitan area (including New Jersey, Connecticut and Westchester) will come together July 11-20, to spend 10 days attending an intensive and rewarding journalism “boot-camp” held at the Arthur L.
