Music historian and
author Bob Santelli was a
history major, but he got free
albums and tickets to
concerts by writing music
reviews for his college
newspaper. Michelle Harmon
met Santelli at a Harlem
Renaissance Institute
sponsored by the Idaho
Humanities Council; he was
brought in by the IHC as the
music scholar. Santelli led
afternoon workshops for
teachers about the blues, its
history and its connection to
the Harlem Renaissance. The
week-long institute was held
at The College of Idaho in
Caldwell, Idaho.

BOB SANTELLI GREW UP IN NEW JERSEY WHERE FRANK SINATRA WAS
PLAYED IN EVERY ITALIAN AMERICAN HOME. BUT THE NIGHT HE HEARD
THE BEATLES ON THE ED SULLIVAN SHOW CHANGED EVERYTHING.
