Now in its 11th year, reTHINK will place renewed emphasis this summer on print publications and on how to generate and display great reporting. Print journalism may be under stress, but the high school campus is perhaps one environment conducive to great print journalism, in magazines, in newspapers and in yearbooks. It’s time to reinvigorate those programs. Readers need great data, great coverage, and we need to do our best to attract all those eyeballs. Workshop is for high school teachers and students. Application Deadline: May 27 Cost: $150, scholarships available MOSAIC JOURNALISM WORKSHOP The Dow Jones News Fund sponsors the Mosaic Journalism Workshop at San Jose State University in San Jose, Calif., from June 12 to 24. It is a nonprofit program established in 1991 by four journalists who wanted to mentor and inspire future journalists. Mosaic has trained hundreds of high school students, many of whom became professionals in traditional and new media. Mosaic alumni have gone on to work at the San Jose Mercury News, San Francisco Chronicle, NBC-KNTV 11, Los Angeles Times, Atlanta Journal Constitution, Minneapolis Star Tribune and other news media. Selected students develop investigative reporting skills in a unique workshop environment led by local and national journalists.
